Lee Chae Yeon (이채연), born Lee Jin Sook (이진숙) on December 10, 1978, better known as Chae Yeon (채연), is a popular Korean songstress (often known for her sexy image) who rose to fame with her hit single "둘이서" (Two of Us) in 2004 and her wave dance style. Although she is popular for her music, she is also well known for her participation in variety shows.

In 2001, she debuted in the Japanese group Brand New Biscuits (ブランニュービスケット) under the name Jinny (ジニー), She also participated in the group, Ultra Cats (ウルトラキャッツ), which helped her gain a stable fanbase in Korea.

After leaving Ultra Cat in 2002 it wasn't until 2003 that Chae Yeon returned to her native Korea in 2003 and became a success with the hit "위험한 연출" (Dangerous Love) and her debut solo album, It's My Time. During this time many new female acts were beginning to debut with similar sexy concepts. Still, Chae Yeon was one of the few who had the potential to get the hits. After promotions for the lead track were done, she promoted the second single, "사랑느낌" (Feeling of Love), a light hearted dance-pop song. Her biggest hit came in the winter of 2004 with the release of her second album. "둘이서" (Two of Us), which proved to be a major dance hit and topped the charts up until Spring 2005 with the song receiving heavy radio airplay. The music video for the song was banned as some scenes were considered too racy. The second single, "다가와" (Come to Me) was another hit for the singer.
Less than a year after the release of her second album, Chae Yeon returned with her third. Although the lead single, "오직 너" (Only Love), became a moderate hit, its popularity was lackluster when compared to the hits released on her previous album. The follow-up single, "세번째 사랑" (Third Love), was a minor hit. After months of promotion, Chae Yeon released her first best album which included a figurine which resembled her.

In 2007, Chae Yeon made her comeback with her fourth studio album, My Love. The title track had decent success as it was performed live many times along with its remix. The second single fared rather poorly in comparison.

After a two year hiatus from the music world, in 2009, Chae Yeon returned with her first mini-album, Shake. Continuing to stay within the "sexy singer" concept, the lead single "Heundeullyeo" (Shake It) is an electronic dance song. The music video was labelled by major networks to be unfit for broadcast without parental advisory warnings. She has stated that although she felt awkward and uncomfortable with her sexy image initially, she feels more at ease now, and has stated that she feels sexier as she becomes more natural.



















"Shake" is the first mini-album released by Chae Yeon. The first single promoted was Shake, a catchy dance song with strong club beats. It has been frequently performed live along with Ooh La La.
