I have to say I HATE self tanners XD
Just because they work so badly and make you look totally plastic XD it is not natural I think.

The best way to get a beautiful tan is to hang out in a sunlight when it is summer =)
That is my advice and that is what I'm going to do XD

You can tell that her tan is 100% burned onto her, meaning she's probably spent a good deal of time on sunbeds to achieve her colour. I wouldn't recommend sunbeds but you probably all already know the risks that accompany them so I won't go off on one; there's enough diseases in the world, I don't want to increase my chances of skin cancer thank-you very much!

There are pills that can be taken containing extracts from carrots and injections that are as of yet illegal in Britain (although people still use them) but they give a look reminiscent of a giant tangerine at any rate, so perhaps not what you were after Razz What I'm planning to do is in the Summer - once I've finished school and gotten rid of the dress code - is to go and get a spray tan at a salon. They only last a short while, but then I plan to upkeep it with a good tinted moisturiser and see where that takes me.

As for hanging round outside in the Summer, I wil be doing that as well to get my dose of essential Sunny goodness! w00t! But relying on the Sun to get a good tan doesn't work for people who are either really pale or who just can't naturally tan. I mean, I avoid the Sun because it makes me freckly! And then I get self-conscious haha I'm either pale as pale can be in Summer because I haven't left the house, freckly because I ventured outside for a few minutes or looking like an undercooked turkey because somebody lured me out to shop lols The horror!

Yeah British gals get it tough because we have literally no sun anyway and it's nearly always freezing or raining. Even if I wanted to frazzle my skin I can't because cancer runs in my family and I burn and go freckly aka do not tan. There are tanners that make you go more brown than orange, especially in spray tans where you can get mahogany.

heyhey
im using fake bake i dont think it sucks at all =]
and im not orange.
you just got to try various ones cause everyone is different it depends on your own personal skin and i understand it can get expensive but there are so many different types like lancome or clarins.
my friend is keen on st tropez though i havent tried that one.
famousdaves fake tan
if you go on faq on that site at the bottom you can get a trial size.

xen tan this is good cause you can see what colour it can be looking at the celebs using it if you think theyre too orange then obviously not the tan you want Razz

theres a tan called he-shi if you google that...

sun labs thats another type =]

im all googled out anyhow so i hope that helps... im thinking of trying sun lab or xen tan when im done with my fake bake =] you just gotta try them =] if youre worried them mix moisturiser with it and build it up slowly or something
one more thing i found a website with cheaper beauty products www.feelunique.com

I've heard that Estee Lauder makes really good tanning products, but I've never tried them. They'd prolly be available at any Walmart or Target though.

I dont really know too much about the moisturizers, but I do use the sun bed. Sunbeds are a great way to get the look you want, however, we all know the risks. The best way to use a sun bed, is to go maybe two times a week for 7-10 minutes, and use a bronzer. BEFORE using sunbed, use self tanners and such to give you color.

If you over use a tanning bed without any protection, including lotions (lotions help tan AND protect), then eventually you WILL probably end up with skin cancer. My mom has been using them since they first came out, and so she tells me the best ways to do it.

right now, I go three times a week for 10 minutes in a bed 14(hot but not too hot). ALWAYS start, at least, your first 5 sessions in a 'colder' bed. I will admit, sometimes I do worry, but I also know that by not spending too much time in the bed at once, using skin moisturizers after, using lotion before, and FLIPPING in the bed can help reduce your chances of skin cancer.

Thats another thing too. FLIP. And if you feel like you are getting too hot, GET OUT. Not worth the risk of getting a burn. Burning is what causes the worst side effects, and ultimately leads to skin cancer. The point is to get color, not burnt.

Of course, you should all know this. ^.^ And I dont expect you all to use a bed, Im just putting in my input.

If Im not dark enough by the time i go to Iowa on the 14th of August, Im going to go try the mystic tan. I just am not too sure how it works....A bit intimidating to have chemicals sprayed at ya....

How many of you have used a bed before?
