Re: Acrylic Nails?
well, if they take them off right, than it doesn't hurt at all
I have press ons, and I would recommend you get them if you don't work
so I babysit, so press ons area a lot more economical for me.
but yea, they're nice...ummm. I don't really know what they do at the salon, but for press ons, I use special glue that's almost as powerful as super glue...
so don't get it on your skin lol a/w I hope you have fun!! salons are the best ;3

Re: Acrylic Nails?
they aren't necessarily painful if you go to a professional~
keep in mind acrylics are time consuming and can damage your nail if not done correctly.
for my nails i had to wait two hours before she finished, but they were perfect<3.
nails can break easily if you do a lot with your hands.

Re: Acrylic Nails?
I WANT NAILS LIKE THOSE!!! where did you get them done?!?!?
you go there and pic out your design, then will glue a fake nail
to the end of your real nail after file and buffing your nails. then
they gloss over the real and fake nail like 40 times, do the design,
you dry and DONE~ then about 2 months later (depending of the
job and your care) one will fall off. not FALL. if they fall off they
don't hurt. so you can wait for all of the others to ware out, you
can get what's called a filling (refilling the job of fake nails), or
you can brake them off. braking they off can be painful, because
they are stuck to your nail!!! but your control the amount of pain.
if its too much pain, then down tear them off. TIP: use nail polish
remover to remove stuck on nails. ^^; thats what i had to do. XD

Re: Acrylic Nails?
Yea If you dont have a job, or steady money like allowance or w/e you probably wouldnt want to get an acrylic set.
First off, getting any nail art done is super expensive, and I'm not sure how it is at other salons, but the one I go to you have to pay by nail for the art. So I usually get white tips (a french mani) and do my own nail art. (youtube has like zillions of how to vids on it)
But once you have your nails, when you go back you dont have to pay her all that money to get them filled, it will be like 1/3 to 1/4 the price.

I always just buy some presson ones from the dollar store around the corner and use super glue when I don't have money to get them done, which actually works but it'll make your nails look like crap underneither. So I always put a nice coat of nailpolish on before putting on pressons so they don't pull up my nails.

Re: Acrylic Nails?
I tried to rip mine off after 20 minutes and it hurt so bad! ;p Just soak them in hot water for a while, and they'll peel off. It feels like I'm removing my real nail every time I take them off, though.

Why don't you just use regular nail glue? It's no more expensive than super glue, which shouldn't be used on nails anyway.

Are you using nail glue or stick-on nail tabs? If you're using nail glue, you should ALWAYS soak nails off using artificial nail remover. Never pull off glue-on nails or you risk a lot of pain and damage to your nails.
Stick-on tabs are best removed by soaking in warm water.

I use both, but I was using nail glue the first time. I didn't read the instructions. ;p

Re: Acrylic Nails?
Once I kept buying fake nails, (and kept having to take them off for dance, piano, etc.) it doesn't hurt if you soak them for a very long time- but I damaged my nails a bit, so I would be careful if you use nail glue
