Help a sugar junky?

Post  Dollihead on Mon Jul 27, 2009 10:00 am

See, irritating thing is, i eat quite healthy, i love my veggies and excercising a lot.
...
but im a total sugar addict! Y_Y
Ive even been told by the doctor that im addicted to it, and im from a family of diabetics. Problem is, i am very weak willed, and I work in a newsagents so im under constant temptation.
Im sensitive to a helluva lot of stuff, so that limits my diet (Cant have dairy, cant eat some fish, am caffeine sensitive) And my sugar is my only real vice, but its getting baaad now.
But because its not a serious addiction the doctors wont help.
Anyone got any tips to clear me of the stuff?

Other than replacing your sweet treats with sugar free alternatives all I can say is get over it and stop eating sugar. It's just that simple. I've given up all of my sugar snacks as part of my diet and I used to eat three or more sugar snacks a day. Now I eat none. Willpower~~~

ask your family to help.
if they can stop buying sugar
and stop eating it with
you, then there will be no
sweet temptations. no? ^^;

Uhh try replacing all those sugary snacks with sweet/non sweet alternatives. Like fruit!

Whenever I have a craving for sweet foods I usually go grab a cup or peaches or something such as that. Also as far as sodas go try switching to those crystal light packages! They are way less harsh than drinking sodas and you are still getting your sweet fix.

Though another things is to remember to eat in moderation...

i'm exactly the same, i eat far too much sugar. i dont really eat fatty foods or anything, i eat healthily, but i just NEED sugar or i get crabby...

the thing with trying to substitute your chocolate when you want some is, (well with me anyway), that i go and eat the apple or whatever, and then i come back and ALSO eat the chocolate.. >_>

for me the best thing to do is just forget about it, don't eat something else unless you're actually hungry. if you are and you've eaten your latest meal, eat some watermelon cause its sweet and delicious, but mainly water and fills you up.

if youre not hungry but you just crave choc or something distract yourself or go outside

yeah i read that cravings last for 5 minutes so as soon as you get a craving you should go for a walk or text someone or just distract yourself for a while then after that you will have forgotten about it! im terrible cause i have a sweet tooth but ive also got a weakness for crisps as [from my dad] like i can eat them all day but i actually stopped for a while and once you stop for a couple of days it gets easier not to have it i went like 2 weeks without eating any crisps which was pretty good at the time cause id be at work and in the snack machine they had chocolate and crisps and nothing healthy and also at my boyfs house where i live his mum buys shitloads of crisps and cakes for my boyf so im surrounded by temptation Twisted Evil
i only ate them again cause i was so hungry it hurt and i literally had no food at work so i was like dang.
still ive bought ryvitas now and cream cheese low fat =] i got tomato and basil ryvitas and then i bought these sweet ones which i think are new i havent tried them before anyways nom nomnom.
