sorry this is kinda long...i just copied and pasted the info:

For the first time at Anime Central, we will be debuting a new Fashion Show! We are invading the Catwalk with many different Subcultures: Lolita, Decora, Visual Kei, & SteamPunk. We would like to open you to a world of intense street fashion from Japan, US, & even the UK (Everything from uber cute to dark & technical) You will not find these looks in a high fashion magazine, nor could you easily find something at your local mall. However, some of these have already inspired some high fashion designers, but not to the same extreme you’ll see in this show.

Experience the full effect here! Though, we can’t have a successful show without you! We are looking for:

· Runway Models that can provide their own outfits & accessories.
· People who are willing to donate outfits & accessories just for the show.
· Make up & Hair Stylists
· Both Runway Models and Staff Members will be considered as a volunteer. Limited benefits might be available to just Staff Members.

Here’s a sneak peak at what you might be seeing at the show!

Lolita: Influenced by Children’s Victorian clothing, Edwardian, & even the Rococo period. They have taken many different existing styles & meshed them with the basic idea of Lolita. Most of these looks are doll like, & are usually worn with petticoats, platform mary janes, knee socks, mini top hats, lace headdresses, parasols, or even teddy bears to complete certain Lolita looks. There’s an endless list of Lolita: Elegant, Gothic, Punk, Aristocrat, Sweet, Classic, Pirate, etc…
How can you compare this to something in the US? There are a few influences from Adult Victorian clothing, but nothing close to Lolita.

Decora: “Decora” comes from the word “Decoration”. It’s all about cute, tripped out, bright clothes, layers, tons of colorful & youthful accessories, & even toys.
How can you compare this to something in the US? Just by the way it looks, I think of Ravers/Club Kids & Scene Kids, but not for the same intentions.

Visual Kei: Visual Kei is a term used for the Japanese Movement that started in the late 1980’s, gaining special popularity during the “Japanese Band Boom” (1988-1998). These bands mainly made gothic industrial music, jungle, metal, punk, or anything considered “alternative’’. Along with that, their outfits were a mix of glam rock, goth, punk, very flamboyant, & dramatic hair & makeup for both genders.
How can you compare this to something in the US? We too get our influences from the media, music especially. I would say a combination of Glam Rock, Gothic Industrial, Punk, & a bit of CyberPunk, is what we have that somewhat creates that Visual Style. To put a face or two behind a look like this, it would be a combination of David Bowie, Boy George, Robert Smith, & a touch of Marilyn Manson.

Steampunk: SteamPunk started to make waves in the late 1980’s. Influences come from the Steam Era, & reflect in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy scene through books, movies, & even gaming. After a while you saw and heard more SteamPunk in music, fashion, & even some animes. You may have also heard some people call this Subcluture as “Neo Victorianism”. This kind of clothing is a mixture of Victorian clothing, technological & period accessories such as, timepieces, parasols, goggles, gas masks, & ray guns.
How can you compare this to something in Japan? The only thing that would be relevant is Lolita, only for the fact that they both use Victorian fashion as their main influence.

WE ARE ACCEPTING OTHER CATEGORIES THAT ARE NOT LISTED, FEEL FREE TO APPLY WITH WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO. THOUGH, NOT EVERY CATEGORY AND APPLICANT WILL GET ACCEPTED IF IT DOES NOT FIT WITHIN OUR SHOW.
