It's a new diet that allows you to lose weight without stress that comes from Japan! The Morning Banana Diet (Asa Banana) has only a few rules, like drinking room-temperature water and gulping down a beautiful banana for breakfast. Will it really work?


The Morning Banana Diet has recently appeared on Mixi, one of the most popular social networks in Japan. It's turned into a phenomenom in almost no time, and is becoming popular in western countries, too.

The basic rule is to have a banana for breakfast, but let's also take a look at the other requirements:

Have a banana for breakfast

* You can have more than one, but only if you really feel the need
* Eat only raw, uncooked, unfrozen bananas. You can't have milk, coffee, yogurt or anything else with it


Have anything you want for lunch and dinner

* You must have already eaten your dinner by 8 p.m. (6 p.m. is the ideal time to have dinner)
* There are no limits on the amount of food you can eat, you can also have fried food
* You must not eat sweets before and after your meals

Drink

Drink only water

* The only beverage allowed for almost all your meals is water, it is better if it is mineral or filtered
* Water must be at room temperature, not chilled, or hot
* Water should be taken in small sips and must not be used to wash down food
* There is no quota of water to drink, but you should not drink it excessively
* On social occasions you may drink beer or wine

Eat your food mindfully

* Chew your banana and your food thoroughly and be mindful of its taste


You may have an afternoon snack

* At around 3 p.m. you may eat a sweet snack (chocolate, cookies or a similar snack)
* Ice cream, donuts and potato chips are not recommended
* You could have fresh fruit for your snack, but if you really want a sweet you should have it
* Some Japanese eat a filling, fist-sized rice ball (onigiri) instead of their afternoon sweet, if they are particulary hungry
* If you are still hungry, after dinner you may have a second snack of fresh fruit, but this should not become a habit


Go to bed by midnight

* If you can manage, go to bed earlier


Exercise only if you want to

* Put no pressure on yourself to exercise
* If you want to exercise, go ahead, but do only what doesn't stress you


Keep a diet journal

* Because the Morning Banana Diet was developed on the internet, many Japanese that succeeded on losing weight naturally documented their daily food intake and progress online via blogs, forums, or social networking services, and they felt this gave them extra support.


These informations are taken from the "Morning Banana" website, where you can compare your results with other bananoid-diet-users. The Author suggests to try this diet for 2 weeks and see whether it works for you or not.

Looking around the Internet, I've found a blog of a nice girl that is following this diet, and she has lost about 6lbs in 19 days.

6 pounds is about 3 kg?
It's sooo little of 19 weeks for such a weird diet.

Nutriette and workout is the best.

OR, JUST EAT LIKE A REAL PERSON:NOOOO SWEETS ON REGULAR DAYS!!!! shit, I don't get all americans who're eating candy and fried and shit all the fucking time.
I eat tomatoes as candy or fruit, but I prefer veggies!!!!!!!

I'm with mademoisellm, I hate sweets. I mean, they're good sometimes, but I don't understand how people can eat sooo many at any given time. Though . . . must say: I'm American. haha. Oh, the stereotypes of my country. I wish they were less true sometimes. =__=


Anyway, OP.
Have you actually tried this diet? (because) It seems a little fake. And besides, it's a fad diet that most people would give up after (at maximum) a month. @___@ I guess I'm a little skeptical (more so then I would/should be) after the spamming of a bunch of recipes that look copied and pasted. :/

I would stay away from any kind of "diets", just work on eating healthy all the time. Of course that can also include sweets- if it's in moderation (Y)

I'm a bit biased though because I don't like bananas Razz

OK, I'm laame--no more failure puns for me, haha.

Anyway, I agree.
I eat chocolate like, practically everyday now (1-5 kisses with almonds, yum).
But with exercising and eating healthy (other wise) I've lost a good amount of weight. (:
"Dieting" always ends, eating differently lasts.

this is a very very dangerous diet, there is so much iodine in one banana.... i would die if a follow that diet xD , i got one problem with my thyroid gland, and my mom have the same problem to... and guess what... all start for BANANAS!!!

take it easy with bananas... Meh

Oh! Both of my sister tried this way back when we first heard about it. My oldest sister, Tammie, lost 15 and my other sissy, Tina, lost 10 lbs...
I wasn't surprised since Tammie ate nothing but giant feasts 5x a day [yucko lol but they're rich as the dicken, so they eat WELL] and Tina's normal diet consisted of nothing but chocolate, cream puffs, cheescakes, and donuts. Razz lol

I love my sissies, but I hate visiting my them in calif [usa]. All they do is eat at restaurants >>>Korean BBQ, Cheesecake Factory [EWWWWWW], Olive Garden. I know it's killing them Tears but they're trying to change ^O^ Thank goodness. I should post pics of them... [ekkk I'm lazy haha]

HAI,,The morning banana diet is a very flexible way of improving your physical conditions, but it does not mean you can do whatever you like after eating bananas in the morning.

If you complain of not losing weight even if you eat bananas in the morning, do you remember all the basic rules?
If you don't, you can't make it a habit. There must be something that you are leaving out.

Exercise (I find) is the best way to tone up and slim down so maybe if I combine the two and see if that works...
I'll let you know cos I'll start tomorrow (tues 26th April) and I'll do -hopefully- a weekly update on what I'm doing and if it works!

Ok so here's the results from week 1.
I tried eating certain foods at specific times throughout the day, combining it with lots of water and some exercise too.
I've cut back a lot on juice and replaced them with water or very diluted non concentrated fruit juice, so my skin is actually more hydrated which is good cos warm weather dries out my skin really fast!
Also, by only having sweets at a certain time of day, it's helped me cut down alot and prevented those awful cravings you usually get on diets.
I'm also choosing healthy foods, so that means no fast food, but that's not a problem.
I do some light exercise (walking/jogging) 4-5 nights a week.
So, here's the results of wk 1!
- more energy
- clearer/ more hydrated skin
- less sugar cravings (I'm aiming to cut out sweets eventually so this is really good for weening off sugar)
- less bloat/ water retention
- better sleep (I think that's more to do with the exercise though..)
- total weight loss: 1/2 lb (which is good cos I'm not starving myself or going exercise craving).
I'll post more updates if anyone wants me to!
