Well you said I could talk about anything here...

Ever fancied living on the wild side of life? Well then head on over to Japan and purchase one of these lovely beauties from Thanko:

This wonderful product is also available in a Scorpion version as well as a beetle and hornet version (Don't quote me on that, I'm not good on my bugs). Now I don't know about you, but personally I'd be unable to touch the thing with my finger, let alone rest my hand on it. The idea makes my skin crawl... The hornet and beetle aren't too bad, but the TARANTULA?! My God, it's the stuff of nightmares!

For more images see the product's homepage: http://www.thanko.jp/product/animalia_mouse/

What d'you think?

Kuwagata(mushi) is a stag beetle which is what I thought it looked like but I honestly wasn't sure. It's hard to read from the picture but you misread 'ba' as 'pa' (I had trouble seeing if it was two dots or a circle) so it is actually Suzumebachi, the Giant Asian Hornet. Turanchara is obviously Tarantula (I wonder where that word comes from anyway?) and finally what you read as Sanri is actually Sasori, that being a Scorpion. You read katakana quite well Kiri, although I think that the writing was a little too small on the ba/pa front to be certain because I couldn't tell which it was at first.

I don't have a problem with flies, moths, butterflies etc but when those bugs get HUGE I get scared. It's when I can see their features sweatdrop yeah that freaks me out to no end. Also knowing that Hornets and Scorpions are poisonous doesn't help me love them. I'd never be able to touch this product with a bug inside but if it was a butterfly I'd be oddly fine with it.

In situations like that I think that if you don't know the word in completion then you might struggle to read it. It's like how we can understand a misspelled word (to an extent) without it being the right spelling for the word. I knew that bachi was bee and I could see it was a hornet so it was only a small step to make it to 'Sparrow Wasp' or Giant Asian Hornet w00t!
