I'm a staight edge gal myself, I was wondering what the status quo for gals in japan is? Is smoking prevalent among gals? maybe drinking? I'm just curious, I was at cvs getting nail glue for my crazy nails ans I looked at the cigarettes behind the counter and I wondered if gals smoked...it's kinda random lol :kaopaty:

I'm not an expert on this but I am also very curious.
I think it depends on the gal, but sometimes gals are stereotyped as "easy" girls
who sleep with men for money or just who value sex as an important part of their lives.

Then again, stereotypes aren't always true,
and I am not sure~! But I have wondered about this myself.

Not that it should make a difference in how you live your life, but I would imagine plenty of gals in Japan both smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol, especially if they're of legal age. Ultimately, it depends on the person.

In general, smoking in Japan is a pretty common thing:

Same goes for drinking. Many gals enjoy going out to clubs rather frequently, so of course they can get drinks there. It's also common in Japan to enjoy a meal with beer, much like in America and some other countries.

When I was in Japan I did see alot of people smoking, it was like walking into smog lol. It doesn't make a difference in the kinda gyaru I am cause I'm not into that stuff ヾ(❀◕ω◕)ノ ゚I was just wondering and alot of gals in japan seem to be 13-18 so it was kinda like, are they even allowed to smoke lol

I don't think it matters, I mean gyaru is more about how you look then howyou act right? It's a style.

Well there are always stereotypes for anyone and anything even if it's not unusual. Originally when gals came on the scene there were some bad girls who gave the gyaru the bad reputation that they still have today, they're known for being loud, rude, smelly, foul-mouthed, dirty, easy, dumb and rebellious. Most gyaru when you get to meet them aren't bad mannered, loud maybe but what teenage girls aren't when they're with friends? It's always a minority that cast a bad image on things.

I stayed in Japan studying japanese 4 months 2008 and I do have to say that is in general very common that people smoke. I do not think that I saw a lot of gyarus smoke though, It was mostly buisnessmen..Regarding the age issue and if many gyarus even are aloud to smoke and see it as a lot of japanese women look younger then they are wich surely could mean that they are as old as i takes Razz Im new here by the way and would really like to have someone to chit chat with! Smile
